HONG KONG, 15th May, 1896.

CONDITIONS.

(1) The permit must be produced by the person occupying the ground, at any time when called upon to do so.

(2) The holder of this permit shall not at any time suble

the whole or any part of site mentioned herein. Any subletti will render the permit void and the same shall be deemed cancelled and no refund or compensation will be paid in respe thereof.

(3) all rent payable at date of cancellation shall be

recoverable.

(4) In the event of the fees or any part thereof being in arrear for one month, this permit shall be deemed to be cancelled but without prejudice to the right of the Governmen to claim payment of all fees payable.

The London Managers of the Taikoo Sugar Refining Co., Ltd.

have drawn our attention to the omission in the enclosed Lease of

Inland Lot 1336, of any reference to the water privileges accorded

us in connection therewith, and have requested us to petition

His Excellency the Governor to amend the said Lease by adding the

following Clause thereto,- "And Her said Majesty doth

"hereby give and grant to the said Company their

"successors and assigns, the exclusive right and

"privilege to collect into and impound in any

"reservoir, or reservoirs, to be constructed on the

"said I. Lot 1336, all the water from the streams

"and water course, whether perennial or intermittent,

"running in their natural courses through, on

"to, and over the said I. Lot 1336, and from the

"catchment basins of the said streams and water

"courses, and to divert the same as to them may from

"time to time seem fit. Provided always that so long

"as water within its natural flow would pass on to
